At their June 13 board meeting, the SCS Board of Education approved four principal and assistant principal recommendations from SCS Superintendent Dr. Jamie King, effective beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

John Langley will become the new principal of Clement Elementary School. Langley has recently been an assistant principal of Southern Pines Elementary with Moore County Schools. He is a native of Sampson County, attending school at Salemburg Elementary School, Roseboro-Salemburg Middle School, and graduating from Lakewood High School.

Langley holds a master’s degree in education administration from Grand Canyon University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. Currently, he is pursuing a doctorate in education with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership. Langley holds a K-6 Teaching Certification and a K-12 Principal Certification.

Dan Chabot will become the new principal of Midway Elementary School. He moves into his new role with over 20 years of experience in education, most recently serving as the assistant principal of North Lenoir High School, in Lenoir County, North Carolina. He also served as the assistant principal at Southern Wayne High School in Wayne County, North Carolina. Prior to serving in school administration since 2021, Chabot was an agriculture teacher at Cape Fear High in Cumberland County from 2008 to 2014, North Lenior High, in Lenior County from 2015 to 2016, and Union High, in Sampson County from 2016 to 2022. He worked as an education specialist for the National FFA Organization from 2014 to 2015. He began his teaching career as a physical education teacher in 2004 at Breezewood Christian School in Cumberland County.

Chabot holds a Doctorate of Education in Administration and Supervision in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Liberty University, an educational specialist degree in educational leadership from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education with a concentration in Natural Resources from North Carolina State University.

Beth Elmore will become the new principal of Plain View Elementary School. She moves into her new role with over 25 years of experience in education. Prior to serving as an assistant principal of Midway Middle since 2019, Elmore was the assistant principal of Hobbton and Midway elementary schools since 2018, athletic director at Midway High from 2016 to 2018, both a health and physical education teacher at Plain View Elementary and a coach at Midway High from 2011 to 2017, both a health and physical education teacher at Butler Avenue Elementary and a softball coach at Clinton High from 2010 to 2011, a middle school math teacher, assistant athletic director, chaplain, and coach at Cape Fear Christian Academy, in Erwin from 2007 to 2010, a professor at Heritage Bible College, in Dunn from 2007 to 2010, and a middle school math and science teacher for at risk students with Johnston County Schools from 1999 to 2001.

Elmore holds a master’s degree in administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a master’s of divinity from Campbell University Divinity School, and a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Campbell University.

Robbin Cooper will become the new principal of Union Middle School. She moves into her new role with over 22 years of experience in education. She began her teaching career in 2001 as a middle school English language arts and social studies teacher with Sampson County Schools. Since then, Cooper served as a GED Science teacher at NC Tarheel Challenge Academy in 2006, and a middle school science teacher, academic coach, director of 21st Century Community Learning Center program, and lead instructional coach with Sampson County Schools from 2006 to 2015. She served as the assistant principal of Midway High and Midway Elementary schools from 2015 to 2017, when she was appointed as the principal of Midway Elementary until 2020. Cooper transferred to Duplin County Schools in 2020 where she currently serves as an assistant principal and previously served as an interim assistant principal, principal, and English as a second language curriculum support specialist.

Cooper holds a Doctorate in Education from East Carolina University, a master’s degree in education and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography both from Fayetteville State University. She also has licensure as a literacy coach, grades 6-9 Science, grades 6-9 Language Arts, as well as school administration certifications for principal and superintendent.

Assistant principal transfers include:

  • Tiffany Holland, current assistant principal of Union Intermediate, has been named assistant principal of Midway Middle.

  • Alicia Leach, current assistant principal of Hobbton Middle, has been named assistant principal of Lakewood High.

  • David Randolph, current assistant principal of Roseboro-Salemburg Middle, has been named assistant principal of Union Middle.

  • Donna Thomas, current assistant principal of Lakewood High, has been named assistant principal of Union Intermediate.
